What Does A High CPK Value Indicates And What Are The Possible Symptoms?

I have a 432 CPK result from a recent blood test, which I m told is higher than normal. My questions are how high does this number need to be before iI should be worried and what does this indicate in regard to possible symptoms of a more serious condition?

Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Creatine phosphokinase (CPK) is an enzyme found mainly in the heart, brain, and skeletal muscle.Total CPK normal values:10 - 120 micrograms per liter (mcg/L).
Your 432 CPK result is higher than normal.Elevation of CK is an indication of damage to muscle. It is therefore indicative of injury, rhabdomyolysis, myocardial infarction, myositis and myocarditis. The use of statin medications, which are commonly used to decrease serum cholesterol levels, can also elevate CPK.Isoenzyme determination has been used extensively as an indication for myocardial damage in heart attacks.Isoenzyme CK-MB must be done to rule out heart related rise.If you had any strenuous muscle exercise or injury it can be due to that.
hope this helps.Take care!
