What Does A Hard Lump On The Hand After An Injury Indicate?

Hi. I was hit in the hand with a hockey stick (2 nights running - same hand same spot couldn t believe it!). I ve been for an X-ray and it s not broken but I have quite a large hard lump. It doesn t hurt to touch it but if I knock it it brings tears to my eyes. Should I be concerned? This happened over 4 weeks ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query

Since you have not mentioned the exact location of your injury site, chances are that it can be a ganglion cyst if located at joints, or it could be a hematoma.
Sometimes hematoma can be painless on touching. It usually subsides on it own. In any case you find the swelling increasing in its size or if pain increases, I would recommend you to consult a doctor for proper physical examination and further management.
I hope this helps
Thank you
