Hi hi. I have a hobble/ bump ontop of my wrist and right before it is a hole. Noticed i cant move my hand upright as always and downward as far then it hurts. Only really noticed the bump and hole today. What can it be and available treatments please. As i work with my hands and it gets quite uncomfortable
A wrist lump is an abnormal protrusion or bump on the wrist. Anyone can develop wrist lumps, which are often the result of an injury, such as a blow to the wrist or overuse. Wrist lumps may result from inflammation (swelling), a broken bone, an infection of the wrist, a growth, such as a cyst or tumor, or a variety of other conditions. Inflammation of the wrist can occur from tendinitis, arthritis, bursitis or gout. Possible wrist injuries include sprains, strains, and fractures. Growths on the wrist can be benign such as a cyst or cancerous such as a tumor.
Treatment for wrist lump depends on the cause of the lump. If your wrist lump is not uncomfortable, it may not require treatment. If the wrist lump is related to inflammation, anti-inflammatory medications or steroids may help improve your symptoms. Pain medications may also help to alleviate any pain that occurs with your wrist lump. Serious cases may require surgery.
