Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good afternoon, I have a blister on the ball of the big toe on my left foot. I have Neuropathy. The skin is gone around it & it is not possible for me to go without shoes as I work. What can I do to clear it up so it will heal? I got it on Monday & I put both alcohol & peroxide on it already & just found out that you should NOT use those on blisters. Please advise Alicia Bender
Alcohol and peroxide worsen the condition as they cause skin necrosis and tissue damage.
You can apply Neosporin ointment after cleaning with soap and water.
Generally, it will be a simple superficial bacterial infection and it will settle by topical antibiotics like Mupirocin. If the symptoms persist better to consult a general practitioner and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
