Hello and welcome to HCM,
VDRL and TPHA test are done for syphilis.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria Treponema pallidum.
The first test performed for syphilis is VDRL.
VDRL is a sensitive test for syphilis but not a very specific test.
A positive VDRL test is seen in syphilis and many other autoimmune diseases.
A positive VDRL test is followed by TPHA test.
TPHA is a sensitive and specific test for syphilis.
A positive TPHA confirms syphilis infection and a negative TPHA test rules out syphilis infection.

Thanks and take care
