What Does MRI Brain Sequence As Coronal & Sagittal T1 Suggest?

I had a MRI done yesterday and the result are as follows. Please explain to me in detail.MRI BRAIN Sequences :Axial T1, T2,FLAIR,GR,ADC,DW1. Coronal and Sagittal T1.Findings : Ventricles are symmetrical and are dilated. No mass effect or shift of midline structures. Basal cisterns, sylvian fissures are prominent. Pons, midbrain and cerebellum are normal. There is no obvious intracerebral hemorhage, cerebal infarction or mass in the cerebrum. There are T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the white matter of the right and left frontal lobes. Mastoid and orbit are normal. Polypoidal mucosal thickening in the left and right maxillary sinuses. IMPRESSION : Mild cerebral atrophy. White matter hyperintensities in the right and left frontal lobes, likely ischemic foci. Please advice. C.K.Manoharan. Penang Malaysia.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the white matter of the right and left frontal lobes are due to chronic microvascular ischemic changes resulting from involvement of small blood vessels.
Ischemic changes resulting from blood vessels changes in diseases like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia.
So,you need monitoring of conditions that leads to ischemic changes like hypertension, altered lipid profile, diabetes mellitus so that further progression of disease can be halted.
You need investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile, ultrasound of abdomen.
Proper treatment depend upon findings.

Mild cerebral atrophy are age related changes and it doesn't require any treatment.

Polypoidal mucosal thickening in the left and right maxillary sinuses are due to chronic sinusitis. You need regular prophylactic medicines for sinusitis like nasal steroids etc.

Hope i have answered your query.
Take Care
