Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, I had a 10 points test run and the HSV 1 score was 27.0 ...What should I do ... I had oral sex 5 days before sample was taken and got test results back two days later. Also, is this something I will have to live with and be aware of with future partners?
Herpes HSV-1 is also known as oral herpes. It is associated with oral blisters. Only in rare cases, it might cause genital herpes. It is HSV-2 the main cause of genital herpes though. If it has been shown high, it means you're infected. If you are not having any symptoms, then there is no need to treat it. However, if you have some clinical symptoms, and blisters showed up, then, anti-virals can help speed down the infection, but cannot treat it. This virus will go through dormant phase of its life, inactive for days or years, and might show out of the blue anytime.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
