What Does DS And Cf Means In Ultrasound?

hi i have had 3 ultrasounds and they have all shown the bright spot on the babys bowel,the third ultrasound was done by the specialist and he was the one that told the baby has a 1% chance of ds or cf i had some blood test done but havent gotten the results and i go back for another scan in 5 weeks i am very worried

Thanks for writing in.

The DS stands for Downs syndrome and CF is Cystic fibrosis. These are congenital conditions which might be suspected in the baby. Further blood tests will eliminate these possibilities. It is important to match the results of blood tests and get regular follow up ultrasound scans done as required.
