What Do Tingling Sensation In The Hands And Dizziness Indicate?

I wake up in the middle of the night with tingling in both hands, hard/rapid heart rate, dizziness, and sometimes shortness of breath. This only happens once or twice a month. I went to the ER two months ago had some tests run and was told everything looked good. I have also experienced rapid heart rate after eating full meals. What could this be if all my tests came back good?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

This is most suggestive of anxiety attack but of course some direct causes should be considered if symptoms persist. These include signs of certain neuropathic issues and this is most commonly seen in some metabolic disorders such as diabetes, of the most common causes of peripheral neuropathy, accounting for about 30% of cases.

In diabetic neuropathy, tingling and other symptoms often first develop in hands so you should check blood sugar. Dizziness may also be sign of diabetes. If there is no improvement you need to do EEG and head CT scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein
