What Do Tenderness And Pain In The Abdomen Indicate?

Hi I have been on birth control pills two months next Saturday, Last month I started my period on the last row of the pills third one in as usually you are suppose to start your period on that row of pills. Two days ago I started having spotting breast tenderness and very very sharp pains in my stomach. The pains in my stomach lasted all day on and off. I am wondering if these can be because the birth control pills? Also if last month everything went as it should why would I be spotting a week early? Or is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You need to take a pregnancy test. Remember that no birth control is 100% effective. If you are pregnant and having pelvic pain you need to see a doctor today. If you are not pregnant, then you still need to see a doctor if the pain is not resolving or is getting worse. Pregnancy with abdominal pain can be life threatening. Take a pregnancy test or see a doctor today.
