What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Chin Indicate?

My daughter had a headache Monday and then a fever hit that afternoon. Next day she still had both but nothing else. Wednesday both were gone but lymph node under her chin was hard and swollen, could see it even. Today that is down some but she now has a rash on her trunk. What is going on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Swollen lymph nodes indicates infection somewhere around. Look for any decayed tooth and ear infection which are common cause for swollen nodes in kids. Nothing much to worry as it will resolve once the infection settles. Start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin and the nodes will resolve with antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
