What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck Indicate?

Hi...I wonder if you could help please. I had severe anemia around 2 months ago and was hospitalised for it, i had blood transfusions and an iron transfusion and was then released. They obviously did the normal blood tests for hemoglobin levels etc. I had a colonoscopy and was all clear, the suspected cause was very bad bleeding from piles which i had for 4-5 years, I know it generally does not cause anemia but the bleeding was worse than normal and for a long period of time. My first question is do they test for HIV if you are anemic with those blood tests? I have recovered well from the dizziness and pale skin etc but I am not 100% yet. I have now had swollen glands in my neck and a sore jaw for around 2 weeks and I am very scared it may be HIV. Or can they be effects of anemia still because when i was discharged from hospital my level was 9.5 and the doctors told me it would still take some time get back to normal. Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Swollen lymph nodes in neck area are commonly seen and in most cases if there are no other symptoms, it doesn’t indicate any disease. However if there are additional symptoms such as fever, rapid growth of node, cough, weight loss or excessive swelling then this may be something pathological and require treatment. In these cases it is most commonly cause by some sort of infection. The most common cause of swollen lymph nodes is an infection, particularly a viral infection, such as the common cold. Other possible causes of swollen lymph nodes include:Strep throat, Measles, Ear infections, Infected (abscessed) tooth, Mononucleosis. Mononucelosis is commonest along the young people and this should be ruled out first. Then it can be treated with antibiotics or other medications depending on established cause. He should drink more fluids, take ibuprofeum and rest as much as possible till symptoms persist. In doubtful cases, lymph nide biopsy can be taken but I don’t think this is necessary at this point.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
