What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck Indicate?

For a month I ve had swollen glands in my neck, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, and sore joints but no fever or nausea. Until a month ago I jogged a mile twice a week now a short walk around the block exhausts me. I m a 50 year old man. I don t drink or smoke. I m 6 4 and 220lbs. I have herpes type 1 with occasional flareups around my anus and had mononucleosis two years ago. I don t have HIV or other STDs. What are the possible causes of all these symptoms?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Infectious mononucleosis can cause cervical Lymphadenopathy.
So better to consult ENT doctor and get done clinical examination and ultrasound examination of neck.
You may need fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) to confirm the diagnosis.
If FNAC is normal then possibility of simple viral infection is more likely.
So drink plenty of fluids orally, do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
