What Do Red And Purple Marks On The Bottom Inner Lips Indicate?

I woke up yesterday and saw what appeared to be red and purple marks on the top and bottom of the inside parts of my lips. I don t have any bumps or pain. It looks like it would have been caused by me biting my lips but I don t remember doing it and I feel no pain. Not sure if I could have done it in my sleep but it just doesn t seem likely. They look like just broken blood vessels. I ve already noticed that within a day it s starting to clear up but I m nervous. This never happened to me before

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red and purple marks on the bottom inner lips which could be due to frequent biting and licking of lips, angioedema and allergic reaction.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Keep yourself hydrate by drinking plenty of water.

- Maintain hygiene and avoid pricking lips.

- Take vitamin B2 and niacin supplement.

- Apply antibacterial ointment to give you immediate relief.

- Take Ibuprofen to relieve pain.

- Suck on ice pops.

If condition keeps on persisting then you should consult oral pathologist for proper examination and to rule out other systemic conditions. Doctor may start treatment accordingly and may prescribe you anti inflammatory medications.
