What Do Rapid Weight Loss And Night Sweats Indicate?

Hi. I have had rapid weight loss over past month or two. Pain in front tip left shoulder, night sweats, headaches, tiredness and now sharp pain on left side under ribs. My Gp keeps running blood test but they keep coming back clear. So he says it s the flu. I m now only 48kg and getting worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Rapid weight loss is commonly due to thyroid dysfunction (hyperthyroidism), DM, parasitic infection, depression, gastroenteritis or CMV/HIV when the immune system of your body gets compromised.

Night sweats, headaches, tiredness is usually seen in hormonal imbalance, menopausal/peri-menopausal phase, neurologic disorders, hypoglycemia, side effects of the medications you might be taking.

Get physically examined & evaluated for the factor/pathology causing discomfort. Get all required investigations (blood workouts, X-ray, Imaging tests, etc.) done. Do regular exercises & maintain healthy lifestyle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
