What Do Presence Of Blood In Urine Indicate?

I am a 73-year old lady in fairly good health. I certainly do not feel my age. Lately, whenever I urinate, I have noticed bright red blood on the toilet paper. I pass water many times more than I am used to and I was wondering what the blood could mean? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, please. Thank you. Joanne
