What Do Painful Sores On The Vagina Indicate?

Hello, I’m not currently sexually active however I was admitted to A&E today due to painful sores (almost like pimples) on my vagina. Before I explained that I wasn’t sexually actively they believed it could be Herpes and that it’s not impossible for me to have this virus without being sexually active. Instead they prescribed me with Clarithromycin for Folliculitis. Are these two commonly confused conditions? Thank you.

Hello,

I would appreciate a photo of the sores on your vagina for a better understanding. However, as per your story, as you are not sexually active, the painful sores could be razor sores (burn). Sometimes, apparently, they are similar to herpes sores explaining the first diagnosis. However, it is folliculitis or razor sores which are correctly treated with clarithromycin. Keep good local hygiene. Avoid shaving, better wax depilation.
