What Do Pain And Pressure Around The Chest Muscles Indicate?

Hi. I am 50 yr old female in better condition then most my age, at least I like to think, could lose 20lbs but anyway.... Lately, been feeling like i sprained a muscle on the left side of chest right where the heart is located-I m not claiming heart attack, its just getting annoying! It feels like pressure is there also but more like a pain from a muscle pull. No did not do any recent exercises or car accidents, etc. Alot of stress however. This has been on and off for a while (a few months) but seems to be more constant (just about everyday). Not sure why I m writing as you will probably suggest to see my doctor (haven t been to him in over 7 yrs except for a mild case of Strep or 3.) Did I answer my own question...see my doc? :-)

Hello,

Most probably it will be a simple musculoskeletal pain.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. In that case, We have to rule out possibilities like cardiac causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
