What Do Numbness And Spongy Sensation In The Lower Leg Indicate?

I am having problem with my legs, I cannot feel anything below my knees and it feels very spongy in my feet and sometimes i cannot stand up without leaning on something. I am diabetic. When I sleep I get a lot of pins and needles in my both legs and feet.
