What Do Lower Backache And Swollen Lymph Nodes Indicate?

I have Non Hodgkins Lymphoma - SLL/CLL, stage 3. Last chemo cycle was in January. Now I am in the wait and see stage. The lymph nodes under my left arm felt enlarged beginning a couple of weeks ago, so I called my oncologist and they moved up my check up appointment from December to next week. Well last week I had lower back pain on the left side, for no apparent reason, but after a couple days it went away. This morning it came back. Could it be a kidney stone or a kidney infection? And if that is the case, could that be why my lymph nodes are enlarged, and not the cancer is growing quickly? I am female, 63, and otherwise in good health.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in one side of the lower back could be possibly due to renal stones and usually there will be other symptoms like nausea ,vomiting, back pain radiating to anterior thigh or groin area.An abdominal ultrasound can confirm the diagnosis. It's not related to enlargement of lymph nodes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
