Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dermatologic conditions are hard to discuss without seeing them. ok, steroids take 24 hrs to start working. There are a lot of possible causes of allergic reactions. These can be medications or viruses or even one's own cells (autoimmune disease). If the cause of the allergy isn't removed the treatment might not work. Follow up is often required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
