What Do Floaters In Eye When On Medication For High BP Suggest?

Thank you! I have started to have some things in my right eye- a wiggly line in a semi-circle or some flashes or quick things across an area-maybe a short line or maybe an irregular lump. this is quick- maybe 1/3 second. I am well nourished; have metaprolol, hctz and valsartan for high BP which I take regularly; no headaches; no un-usual exertion. Should I be worried, get an eye exam(of course, none of this will happen while@ eye MD), or what? Susan, age 69, 5 5 & too fat @ 195#

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think this problem may be related to some retinal pathology may be due to changes as a result of high BP. You are advised to get your fundus examined by an ophthalmologist and a retinoscopy if indicated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
