What Do Delayed Periods And Vaginal Spotting Indicate?
Hello I am now 8 days late for my period . Last month my period was short by a day then 5dpo I started too bleed a bright red with clots and all 9dpo the bleed gradually stopped I’ve been feeling sick off and on my boobs hurt off and on and I’m really tired I typically have a busy schedule , but something off I’ve been off the pill almost six month this the only irregularities I’ve had since then all preg test have been negative
Pregnancy tests detect HCG, this is normally released day 11 to 14 after conception.
If the pregnancy test is done too early then the test is falsely negative and may need to be repeated after a few days.
If the test is truly negative then other causes of delayed period would need to be considered--(1) emotional stress or illness (2)physical illness (3)thyroid disease (4)inadequate diet (5) high levels of a hormone called prolactin (6)polycystic ovarian syndrome (7)excess physical activity
Blood tests for hormone levels and an ultrasound would be needed to determine if any of the above are present.
I hope this helps
