What Could Severe Pain And Weakness In Wrist Post An Injury Indicate?

I am an ex surgical tech. A few years ago I was moving a patient from the o.r. Table to the cart. I felt a pop in my left wrist (pisiform area) and felt a LOT of pain for about 10 seconds. Afterwards I couldn t bend my wrist whatsoever. I panicked, as I was the only ortho scrub that weekend. So, I grabbed my wrist with my other hand and squeezed hard. I felt another loud pop, and could then bend my wrist. It s years later, and I have severe pain off and on, wrist weakness to where I can t lift a glass or plate. It s not constant, but enough to where it s a problem. I also have Psoriatic Arthritis. What s up with my wrist?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the symptoms can be due to dislocated carpal bone or nerve impingement. It's better to get an orthopedic review as well as nerve conduction studies if symptoms persist. X- ray hands may be helpful for any relevant psoriatic arthritis changes in small joints of hands.
