What Could Runny Nose With Mucus Discharge In Infants Suggest?
Hi, I have a 20 month old son and the last few days he s had a severe runny nose and has been congested I found myself one morning around 3am rubbing the baby rub on his chest to try to open up as I bf him but tonight after dinner and a bath I noticed him slightly coughing and when he went to nurse he couldn t breathe out his nose so I cleared it and when he started nursing he sat up starting coughing and gagging and threw up everywhere and it was a lot I believe its do to the mucus drainage but I was wondering if there s anything over the counter I could give him to help clear it up as I don t not have health insurance. Please help us I m concerned for my son, thank you.
Don't worry- put some nasal saline drops which are easily available OTC and put them several times a day in both the nostrils of your baby. Keep him lying propped up on a bulky pillow or on his side. Nurse him only in an upright or sitting position and pat his back gently a few times to clear the mucus- give him enough water to drink and reduce the use of air- conditioning in the house.
