What Could Recurring Symptoms Of Sore Lump In The Area Of Perianal Surgery Indicate?

I had a perianal operation 7 years ago. Now I feel the same sore lump there and I am worried. I have taken augmentin before and it has come down. I am currently taking augmentin 2nd day. I feel the lump not reducing. I am scared as I just gave birth a week ago and I do not want surgery now as I am currently breastfeeding as well. Will augmentin help?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Perianal lump is to be examined for its extension and hardness and if it is infected. The following are my recommendations:
1) You may continue to take Augmentin full course for 7 days.
2) You may need tab. Chymoral Forte once daily to reduce the swelling.
3) Sitz bath in a tub of warm water with few drops of betadine is very helpful.
4) Mupirocin ointment is to be applied twice daily on the sore.

If your lump doesn't subside, please do consult your obstetrician or a general surgeon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
