What Could Pain Above Belly Button Post Gallbladder Removal Indicate?

I have pain about an inch above my belly button. Feels really hard when I press on it. Taken solpadeine which gave no relief. On nexium for acid reflux. Gallbladder removed 8/9 weeks ago. Hospitalised 11 days ago for a gallstone and pneumonia. Home yesterday. Have asthma. My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

From your history, I would say you are facing Symptoms of postcholecystectomy syndrome (after surgery) such as abdominal pain, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea etc., which will be normal around 6 to 8 weeks post surgery. If not it might be a sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD). Risk factors for this condition includes:
- Gallbladder removal
- Weight-loss surgery
- Female
- Middle-aged
- Recurrent pancreatitis
As you have undergone surgery recently, I would suggest you to do blood test to rule out Pancreatitis & USG for any underlying pathology.
