What Could Cause Swelling In Throat?

Hi, my friend had both tounsils taken out and he can't seem to take the medicine because of his throat being swollen. He also has high blood pressure medicine to take as well. Every time he drink the medicine or water, it comes up through his nose. Please help!

I think he is suffering from velopharyngeal insufficiency. So more than medication i suggest him for speech therapy to restore oronaso resonance and if it fails we have to proceed with nasoendoscopy findings.
