What Could Cause Sudden Weakness And Numbness In The Leg?

What could be the cause of weakness in the legs of a 68 year old man (non-smoker)? He says it happens when he gets up from a sitting position. He has to hold onto something for a minute before he can walk. Says he feels like the feeling comes back to his leg all the way down after he stands for a minute. Sudden onset within the past few weeks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

We have to rule out conditions like mini-stroke and neurological causes. An MRI brain may be required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
