What Could Cause Red Tongue Spots In A 4 Years Old Child?

Hi, my 4 year old woke last night with a croupy sounding cough which seemed to disappear this morning. Then at lunch time he said his tongue was a bit sore so I had a look and it is scattered with quite large red spots. He says he feels well and has no temperature. Any ideas?

HI your kid may be having erythema over tongue and oral cavity due to a viral infection resulting in cough in the night due to secretions pooling up while lying down.You can apply a mucaine gel if it is sore and avoid giving salt/spicy diet
