What Could Cause Menstrual Abnormality?

i had unprotected sex,and took an ipill within 24hrs of unprotected sex.this happened during the time my period was about to start.my period started just after the sex and its been 8 days that it hasnt stopped.kindly advise me what to do ,is there any chance that i am pregnant.and why isnt my periods stopping?

Hi,

Usually the emergency contraceptive pill is not advised in your case as the possibility of ovulation and so pregnancy is less just before periods. Your periods might have started usually, but as you have taken the emergency contraceptive pill that might have led to a withdrawal effect on the endometrium and prolongation of the bleeding.

Possibly it may stop soon. If it continues, please consult your gynecologist once and take tablets like anti-fibrinolytic drugs to control the bleeding. As repeated intake of emergency contraceptive pills can lead to menstrual irregularity and affect the general health also better to keep at least two month gap between the two emergency contraceptive pills.
