What Could Cause Light Headed?

I was recently taken off BP medicine Maxzide 25mg 1x daily after taking it for several years for HBP. My readings had been in the 115/75 range and I had been light headed. It has been about 1 1/2 weeks and I notice my reading is 137/97 and I am carrying about 3-5 lbs water weight. Is this to be expected right after ceasing medicine?
