my daughter is 17 yr old and having intermittent low grade fever of 99 since last 20 days all her investigations like CBC, MP xray are normal no infectious cause and no other symptoms what would be the reason of her fever which touches to 96 and peaks to 99 once in a day no particular pattern
HI. 20 days , low , intermittent fever in a girl 19 years... The possibilities can be found on further investigations . Ultrasonography- liver , mild hepatitis, amebic? Urinary tract infection ? Urine - routine , microscopy , culture and sensitivity - may come negative if she has already been given antibiotics. Blood Widal- for typhoid. Blood culture may sometimes help. Mantoux for Tb
Many types of viral infection can take 2 to 3 weeks to settle. A course of antibiotics like cefixime, metronidazole and supportive medicines may help . To be taken with the consultation of a Doctor as you need a prescription.
