Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is 64 years old and has recently experienced dizzy spells a couple times per week. When he is dizzy it affects his eyes. He had open heart surgery 15 years ago and has done a wonderful job building his health since. He is not overweight, eats well and exercises. He is really concerned about the dizziness can you give us options on what it could be. He will be on medicare in March so wanted to wait until then to see his doctor. Thank you so much
It's my pleasure to answer your query, as your husband underwent heart surgery in the past and it's good to hear that he's maintaining his health now the thing is that after surgery he must be on meds which might be including diuretics also. These meds are notorious to cause electrolyte imbalance which can further lead to fatigue and dizziness. So I would like to suggest you to do 2 things. First to check his serum electrolytes by blood test and second to do an ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY to see how good his LV is functioning as a reduced LV function can also be a cause of dissiness.
Good Luck
