What Could Cause Delay In Periods After Safe Sex ?

Hi I had sex with my boyfriend on 3rd of january without him cumming and I was about 6th day of my cycle. I took the emergency contraception in 12hours since the event. My cycles are usually irregular but last two were 35days long. My period is 5days late and I have lower back pain. Is there a possibility that something is wrong?

Hi,

You have used emergency contraception and also it was day 6 of your cycle. So the chances of pregnancy are really low.

You have delayed periods already.

It seems that you are more worried as you had an episode of unsafe sex. The low backache may be an indication of a coming period. Also emergency contraception itself causes irregular periods. So I suggest that you do not worry and wait for a few more days. If the periods are delayed beyond their date [taking in account the irregularity] then a urine pregnancy test is indicated. however I feel that you will not need this as chances of pregnancy are very low on day 6.

Hope this helped. Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day. Feel free to ask any more queries.
