What Could Cause An Enlarged Lymph Glands On The Base Of The Tongue?

I had surgery yesterday to check out what the dr thought was a mass on the base of my tongue, He said it didn't look like cancer but did do a biopsy. He said it looked like huge amounts of enlarged lymph glands on the base of my tongue and above my voice box. What could this be ?

There are many lymph and salivary glands at the base of your tongue and these can get enlarged due to various reasons like infection and i think you must be having one of them.Please wait for the biopsy report and get back to me , i will be in a better position to help you then. Take care
