What Could Be The Spot On Outer Part Of Lungs In X-ray?

My mom got clubbing fingers 3 weeks ago. She had an xray and shoes a spot on the outer part of the lungs. She will have a ct w/contrast tomorrow. Does this mean this spot is cancerous or is it possible it is begnin? IF lung cancer what are the percent of cure?

It can be both and it is hard to say is it malignant or benign. Good news are that such peripheral lesions even if are malignant have better prognosis then those in the middle of lungs. There is possibility that it can be completely resected. So she needs to do more detailed tests first and then plan further treatment.
