What Could Be The Cause For A Sore On The Lip Associated With Dryness In The Mouth?

My husband is 74 yrs old good health. Lately he has been getting a sore on his lip, dry mouth at night. Our sex life has been great but the last couple times he can’t keep a erection. I’m worried, he only takes a throid medication, a nexium, and Celebrex. He is very active. Should he get a blood test or see a doctor

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The sore on the lip can be related to a herpes simplex virus.

I suggest using an Acyclovir cream for local application.

The dry mouth can be related to diabetes.

I suggest doing a blood test and glycemic level for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
