Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Yellowish Pus Around Stitches After Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Yes, I had 4 wisdom teeth removed Tuesday and I smoked three days after, but since the removal I ve been rinsing with salt water and taking the antibiotics 3 times a day as prescribed, I have had hardly no pain at all. There is a small yellowish pus around the stitches, some websites say it s part of the healing process some say it s an infection yet with pain involved
As per your query if it is pus discharge it is not a part of healing process but pus formation is always a part of infection...
It is good you are taking your medicines on time... If you are not having any pain and discomfort i would suggest you to keep the area clean and wait till your medicines are going on.. It may be just tissue fluid and not pus as if you had pus it sholud have been with some pain and discomfort..
AVOID SMOKING TILL YOU GET COMPLETE .. As excessive heat exposure in your mouth can lead to dealed healing and damage to newly forming cells and tissues in the extraction socket..
If the discharge does not go away in next two to three days or if the discharge increase to occur visit you dentist and get evaluated for some infection in that area...
Hope you get well soon
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora...
