What Causes Yeast Smell Vomit?

My daughter has thrown up twice this evening. No fever at all. She went to sleep and about an hour later she got sick. She went to sleep again, but only to wake up a few minutes later to get sick. Both times the vomit was yeast smelling. What could this be and why does it smell like this?

Hi there...

Thanks for writing in..

This could be a case of viral gastroenteritis.

Any diarrhoea or stomach cramps?

I would suggest you give her probiotics like lactobacillus...which is the good bacteria that helps maintain the normal gut flora.

Also give her ORS (oral rehydration solution) which will keep her rehydrated.

Do not give her spicy/oily/fatty food.
Give her a bland diet with either rice porridge, toast etc.

If she has persistent vomiting, drowsiness , do take her to a doctor.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
