What Causes White Spots On The Back Of The Throat?

I had puss pockets or tonsil stones in the back of my throat ( tonsils ) my throat was a little red, and had bad breath, went to one doctor they told me, " it might be tonsillitis" then went and got a second opinion and that doctor had told me its more likely a sinus infection, I was given antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) 3 times a day, for 10 days, the pus pockets had went away. Everything was fine up until today, I decided to check my mouth, and the white spots are back. No other problems, no fever, sore throat, strep, basically no pain or symptoms.. What could it be? If someone could let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Hi dear ,

As per your query you have white spot on the back of he throat . Well there can be many reasons for white spot on the back of the throat like oral thrush , tonsil stones ( tonsiloliths ) , oral herpes and tonsillitis . It seems to me that in your case the white spots on back of your throat is due to tonsil stones . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out causes mention above . Usually treatment is not necessary, as the tonsils will clean themselves just do warm saline gargles and suck on lemon candy . If they are causing any discomfort then doctor may remove them with instrument . If condition doesn't get better then consult oral pathologist .
