What Causes Wheezing And Cough To My 17 Months Old?

my 17 month old son is wheezing while he sleeps. this is the 2nd night. hes fine during the day, no breathing problems, but last night he tossed and turned all night. he has a cough just when he lays down sounds like it comes from deep inside him. if i put my ear to his chest i can hear a rough wheez everytime he takes a breath. Should I take him to ER right now or is this something that can wait till his doctor can see him in 2 days?

Hello. Thank you for your question. The fact that he is fine during the day is very reassuring. as long as this continues, and he doesn't have fever, you can wait until you are able to see your doctor. In the meantime, try to keep his head elevated with a pillow when he sleeps. Also, if you are able, keep a cool mist vaporizer running in his room overnight, this can sometimes help.
