What Causes Wheezing And Breathlessness?

My husband is 63 years old and has been to see his family physician, but didn t receive any relieve from his problem. My husband has been wheezing and it has gotten worse. He began coughing and almost loosing his breath from this. He has been taking breathing treatments to assist his breathing.

I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist for your husband and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test)
To rule out bronchitis.
Bronchitis is very common in old age without prior history of smoking.
So PFT is must for this. PFT will also tell you about severity of bronchitis.
And treatment is based on severity only.
He may require inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drugs.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
