General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, in this age, due to low bone density, Hormone Replacement Therapy is done. The weight gain is due to the progesterone part of the drug.

Whenever you will stop this drug, the weight gain is most likely to get reversed. So, do not worry. But, my advise is this.

Please take the medicine as per your doctor's advise. Do not stop suddenly, it may be bad for you.

The course and dose are important for you. If the menopausal symptoms subside, then, we can think of stopping the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
