What Causes Vomiting, Stomach Pain And Sudden Weight Loss In A Child?

My 3 yr old has been dealing with vomiting, non gain weight, sudden weight loss, stomach pain, stool bleeding & throwing up blood. They do blood test & it seems ok but yesterday she had a colonoscopy & endoscopy. It showed lots & lots of red spots all over stomach & intestines. They did a biopsy per he is not sure nor wants to give me a definite answer. She will be 4 this week & is still at 28lb. She loves to eat & she throws it all up. What could these spots be?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Gastrointestinal symptoms with weight loss do suggest some GI pathology. As the child has correctly undergone tests and biopsy you need to weight for result. It can be primarily a absorption disorder where child cannot absorb or digest nutrients from food or can be an inflammatory or infectious disorders which secondarily leads to malabsorption or maldigestion. Lets wait for result and then the further course of treatment will be decided. Biopsy result usually takes minimum 7 days to come to any conclusion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
