What Causes Vomiting And Loose Stools After Taking Azithromycin?

wife has been on azithromycin for 3 days( M,W,F). She is vomiting and has loose stools which I know can be a side effect. The vomiting and loose stools has been going on for approx. two hours. It s not constant but it is happening regularly. No blood in either stools or vomit. Is it flu? She doesn t have a fever. Go to the emergency room? Wait 24 hours? Please advise and thanks!

Hello,

Azithromycin like other antibiotics can cause GI upsets like diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea etc.

Don't worry just does some diet modification. Take light meals in diet, soup and avoid coffee and smoking.

Take probiotic in the diet. You also take Pantoprazole once daily for one week.

It will ease out your symptoms and you will feel better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
