What Causes Vomiting And Body Chills After Removal Of Lymph Nodes?

My husband had surgery 10 days ago. He had lymph nodes removed from his right groin. He was in the heat from 7a.m. to2p.m. today. He has been chilling and vomiting, he has a temperature of 101.8. He just ate some soup, so far so good. He also has a drain tube and there is some information at the skin where it goes in his leg. He goes back to the doctor tomorrow. Should we be concerned or just wait until the doctor visit?

Hello,

Why an inguinal lymph node dissection is done? He do it to check for cancer?

People who have an inguinal (groin) lymph node dissection (remove) are usually sent home a few hours to a few days after surgery. You may be given: Antibiotic to prevent infection, a pain-relieving medicine, instruction on caring for dressing the wound, advice on how much and which types of activity you can do after surgery, and put the right position when resting your lower limbs, information about symptoms and side effect you should report.

The side effect can happen any time during, immediately after or a few days or weeks after an inguinal lymph node dissection. Side effects are -pain and stiffness, bruising
-sign of infection, such as pain, redness, pus, swelling, discharge or fever
-a collection of fluid under the skin near the incision
-a build up lymph fluid in the soft tissues around the scrotum or in the legs
- changes in feeling or sensation (may happen if nerves are damaged)

Your husband symptoms are fever and vomiting cause from infection of the lymph node removed wound. Can be cause from the surgery not well sterilize.

You should go to see your doctor for antibiotics to treat an infection and do blood culture to find out what kind of bacterial infection before getting antibiotic medicine. They may drain a build-up of fluid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
