What Causes Vomiting And Belching While Treating Kidney Stones?

So, I have had Kidney stones before and eneded up having a procedure doen to break up stones. On occassion I will have symptons as do with kidney stones, but if I rest, drink lots of water seems in 24 hours the discomfort goes away. I had a severe attack 5 nights ago but this time started vomiting as well. (Never happened before) I tried my usual drink lots of water, rest, pain meds and it was better Monday. It has never gone away, still have discomfort most of the time and have been belching alot since last weekend. My stomach is bloated even though I can t seem to eat much as I m not that hungry. My Dr. got me in & did a UA test & waiting for cultures to come back as well as put me on an antibiotic for a just in case it s an infection. In the mean time, I m getting nervous that it s not going away. I don t want to go to ER if not necessary. There is some discomfort in the middle back that was not there 2 days ago. Could be from laying and sitting so much, or is it something else? I ve never had discomfort in the upper middle of my back with kidney issues before. Is that common?

Hello,

Gastritis causes abdominal pain, back pain, and belching. It can be acute or chronic. Severe gas can produce intense pain across the abdomen. This pain can radiate to the back. You can take PPIs. If it is gastritis, the symptoms will subside. However, back pain and vomiting are commonly indicative of urinary tract infection (UTI) or kidney infection.

These conditions result when bacteria build up in the urinary tract. kidney infection is the more serious of the two. You already have UA test done, be patient and wait for the culture report to come. You will be treated with antibiotics. Do not get anxious. You will get fine soon.

Severe, sharp pain in the back, or side may be indicative of kidney stones. Your treating doctor may ask you to get repeat blood test, ultrasound or CT scan in case he suspects kidney stones developing. Your treatment will depend on the diagnosis made. In the meantime, take adequate amount of water and fluids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
