What Causes Visual Disturbances In The Left Eye?

I had a visual disturbance in my left eye for approximately 30 minutes. It was in the peripheral was a very distinct geographic shape, A sideways V was small equidistance triangles on the inside kind of like shark teeth. it was black and white and I could see it with my eye open or closed. It pulsed very fast, faster than my pulse flickered like a neon light. I had no pain no loss of vision no tick in my eye, and it stopped after 30 minutes when I put my glasses on. I had absolutely no lasting effects. Should I be concerned? I looked up symptoms of a scintillating scotoma, but mine didn t exactly match it. I ve never had migraines or ocular migraine s before

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
This doesn't sound like a scintillating scotoma but it could indicate a retinal detachment or a transient ischemic attack--a threatened stroke.

For that reason you need to see your doctor for a full eye exam and, if warranted, an MRI scan of your brain
