General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Intermittent bleeding can occur with contraception. In some women, only one episode of this occurs, some women can have repeat episodes of bleeding.

It does not mean that there is a significant abnormality. But if it recurs, then you may need to switch contraceptives.

In terms of the pain, if it continues, then imaging such as ultrasound may help to determine the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
